Troy Cassar-Daley

Troy Cassar-Daley has earned the reputation as one of Australia's finest country performers, honing his craft over the course of 20 years and 6 studio albums. He has an incredible personal story, one that has borne itself through his songs. As a child of an Aboriginal mother and Maltese father, his childhood is the stuff of legend – growing up in Grafton, running away to live with his father in Surry Hills, teaching himself to play guitar, his mother's work on the railways, his beloved grandmother... all are factors in the rich tapestry of his life which heavily influenced his songwriting.

In January Beccy Cole's heartfelt and honest song, Poster Girl (Wrong Side of the World), swept all before it to take out a remarkable three Golden Guitars at the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia. It captured the imagination and won the hearts of fans and industry figures alike for its powerful message of compassion and peace. The hat trick of Golden Guitars is the latest in a long string of successes for Beccy, whose talents as a singer, songwriter and performer have taken her to the forefront of Australian country music.

The McClymonts

The McClymont sisters Brooke, Samantha and Mollie unleashed their musical alchemy and soaring vocal perfection when they released their first self-titled EP in June 2006. After touring with Lee Kernaghan, they won two Golden Guitars in 2007 for Group or Duo of the Year and Maton New Talent of the Year with their smash hit single Something That My Heart Does. They are currently touring and preparing for the release their debut album Chaos and Bright Lights.

Travis Collins

With the release of his second album No Boundaries, Travis Collins is rapidly becoming one of Australia's most exciting new talents. The handsome young contemporary country/rock performer is being enthusiastically embraced by a new generation of young country fans as well as lovers of great country music in general. No Boundaries, features 12 new recordings including the first single Yeah She Does - a song co-written by Keith Urban.

Kirsty Lee Akers

She's not much taller than her guitar, but when Kirsty Lee Akers hits the stage she delivers a performance that has everyone's foot tapping, and wanting more. A "natural" singer from a musical family, she started singing and winning awards at the tender age of three! Still a teenager, Kirsty's been playing guitar & singing for many years and has won in excess of 300 awards. Since that first talent quest win, Kirsty's performed "all over" Australia and won awards from Tamworth, Manilla, Dubbo, Sydney, Newcastle, Parkes, Grafton, Gulgong, Wollongong, Gympie, Canberra and Mildura (list is still growing!).

Jason Kemp

As a seasoned performer of 18 years, Jason Kemp boasts a reputation of explosive live shows, thumping energetic stage presence, strong original material and a good solid support base.

His Debut album This Dance graced the charts with seven singles released to radio, six of which hit the top five, three hitting the number one spot on the worldwide radio chart. 2007 saw Jason sign with Pacific International Music (A Nashville based publishing company). He then worked with some of the industries biggest hit writers. He says "I have gained an education unique to songwriting through one on one contact with some of the industries biggest hitters, thanks to PIM."

Late 2008 will see that experience reflected through the release of his new album fully produced in Nashville.

Sinead Burgess

A vocalist, guitarist, piano player and songwriter with unquestionable star quality, Sinead Burgess is both a vibrant and sincere performer with a commanding presence both on and off stage.

Despite only just finishing school, she's already supported the likes of James Blundell and Graeme Connors and was a Tamworth Camerata Junior Country Music School Graduate in 2006.

Sinead has won a swag of awards at prestigious local talent quests including the Caboolture Urban Country Talent Quest 2005, Queensland Champion of Champions 2005, Pioneer Village Country Music Club Festival 2006 and Gympie Muster Maton Talent Search 2006. She was also a Grand Finalist in the 2007 Telstra Road to Tamworth competition.

Recently signed to ABC Music label, we can look forward to a debut single from Sinead in mid-2008 and plenty more from her after that.

Jonah's Road

Jonah's Road is a country pop band enjoying increasing recognition and a rapidly growing fan base. The highly anticipated new album, Counting Down The Days, was released in January 2007 and is expected to repeat the success of the band's award winning first album Hold On.

Recent accolades include being awarded Best Group at the 2007 People's Choice Awards and Song of the Year in the 2006 ICE Awards. With shared lead vocals by Jay, John and Rodney, great songs and a fantastic live show, Jonah's Road is one of the hottest bands in country music in Australia today.

Markus burst onto the local scene in June 2005 when he took out three sections of the Adelaide River N.T. Country Music Talent Quest. Markus went on to represent the Northern Territory at both the CMAA College of Country Music, and the finals of the Telstra Road to Tamworth in January 2006.

2007 marked a new beginning for Markus, with a move to Tamworth, and the release of his debut EP, "Matilda Road". Produced by Garth Porter, Country Music's most awarded music producer, it exudes the energy and artistry that Markus has been refining throughout his career. Markus Meier has learned a lot during his musical voyage. He is fresh, talented, determined, and ready to take the next big step on his remarkable journey.

Claye Middleton

Locally, nationally and internationally Claye continues to win over his audiences with his charming yet charismatic stage presence, which continues to make his style uniquely his own. Last year, following his tour to New Zealand, Claye returned home to take out the Voice of Urban Country title at the QUT Urban Country Music Festival with prizes including the recording of an EP. Claye was also a finalist in Star Maker 2007 and a finalist in the Telstra Road to Tamworth January 2008.

Now a full time musician Claye lives and breathes music. In between performances in Australia and New Zealand Claye is in the process of recording his new EP which he plans to release in Brisbane later this year.

With a voice that can soothe your soul, an infectious smile and a cheeky sense of humour, Casey Watt has just released her much anticipated debut album Lead You Astray, and is already receiving great reviews from her first single release I Don't Want To Work This Hard.

The two time Star Maker Grand Finalist has had a wealth of experience in live performance in impressively diverse genres of music, but her country roots still shine through giving her a unique vocal style that keeps her in demand. Not only a songwriter but also an interpreter, Casey has an appreciation for the beauty and strength in other people's music and delivers every song, whether it be her own or a cover as if she had lived it!

Dean Perrett is one of the leading artists on the traditional side of Australian Country Music, having established himself as one of bush balladry's shining singer/songwriters with strong lyrics and catchy melodies for songs written from Dean's experiences in the cattle industry.

Dean's first solo album was released in 1999. The tally of albums now stands at seven. 2007 marks the beginning of 18 years as a professional performer and recording artist, proving that he is no flash in the pan, but is indeed in the country music game for the long run.

He received a finalist nomination in the 2007 Country Music Awards of Australia for Bush Ballad of the Year. Dean has just released his eighth album titled Return of the Stockman

With two golden guitar finalist nominations in 2007, Anita Ree presents as Australia's premiere female bush balladeer. With two albums under her belt and the third under way her song writing and performance is leaving its mark on the Australian Country Music circuit. With extensive touring in 2006/7 strengthening her fan base across Australia her new album - due for release later this year - is much anticipated.

With a unique style all her own Anita sings songs of Australia and its people, representing our past achievers as well as our modern day way of life. A true Australian talent not to be missed.

Dave's motto in life is "To be the best in what you achieve."

These words shine in his performances with his natural ability to connect with his audiences, along with remarkable successes as a fine, professional musician and vocalist. His guitar playing is instinctive and passionate and his baritone voice is warm and believable. He has won many awards including 'Best Albums', 'Best Singles' and 'Best M.O.R'.

Dave has been nominated 5 times for Gold Guitar at the Tamworth Music Awards and reached the finals for the Heritage Song of the Year with 21 Guns. This song has become one of the longest running 'classic' video clips on MTV.

He toured many times with the top artists and consequently featured in radio and television appearances.

Born 1974 in Mount Gambier SA. Rachel was introduced to Bush Ballads by good friend Bazza Salkeld and for the last 6 years has called Brisbane her home.

Rachel loves to write and perform Australian Bush Ballads. In 2007 Rachel was a Grand Finalist in Star Quest. This year she returns with newly acquired skills in Bush Ballad Pick-Strum guitar.
Rachel has just released her debut album.

Amos Morris is a young enthusiastic performer committed to preserving Australian bush ballads for the older generation and introducing them to his younger generation. Winner of the 2008 Australian Country Music Award for Bush Ballad of the Year, he enjoys performing traditional Australian ballads, mainly the music of our king of country Slim Dusty, also other Australian greats.

Audiences everywhere have enjoyed Amos' performance, he is very grateful for their interest and wonderful response, Amos trusts he can continue to help people feel good through his music in the future. 

Monday 19th January 2004, saw Matthew Manning just 19 years of age take out the A.B.B.A Bush Balladeers Star Quest held at the Tamworth Diggers Club. Chosen from a top line up of bush balladeer talent, Matt's outstanding performance not only won over the audience but the judges as well. Matt's career has moved ahead in leaps and bounds ever since! He has recorded his 3rd CD - Borderline with Stuie French, which is scheduled for released in March 2008.

He would like to follow his chosen path now in traditional country with his main emphasis being Australian Bush Ballad and Instrumental.

Still a young man at only 25 years of age, Nathan Charlton represents the young front of bush balladeers into the future, while retaining strong ties with the pioneers of the ballad. Carving one's own identity in what is quickly becoming a competitive bush ballad field is a challenge for the most astute balladeer, but Nathan seems to be taking it in his stride.

After winning The Australian Bush Balladeers Association Bush Balladeer Star Quest in January 2002 his winner's single recorded at LBS Studios entitled Tex, Buddy & Slim, written by Keith Jamieson, clearly defines where his heart lies in bush ballad music.

Jesse Davis

Jesse is focused and driven to succeed in Country Music. Jesse has a unique sounding voice, an energetic personality and a dynamic stage presence. He has been described as "Hotter than a third degree burn". His aim is to increase the appeal of Country Music to the younger generation by fusing his influences from the Country Genre with Contemporary Mainstream male artists. Jesse has just finished recording his debut EP with a single due for release sometime in 2008.

Lee Forster

Lee Forster, born and raised in country Victoria, grew up in a country music family. He knows his roots. From age 12, he played drums and sang harmonies in his parents’ country band. Lee has been writing songs, playing lead guitar and progressing his country music career for 20 years. He has played at B&S Balls, Rodeos, Ute Shows, and 100’s of pubs. This travelling lifestyle has given him armfuls of songs and concepts and a full understanding of how great this country is.

Lee has now just released his first full album titled Keep Safe on the Track. Lee has written 10 out of the 14 songs. All his original songs have come from characters he has met and things he has experienced. The first single 1000 Headlights is on radio now and has gained huge airplay.

Kelly Hope is a 24-year old singer-songwriter taking on the country music world by storm. With powerful vocals and strong lyrics, Kelly’s originality and stage presence is like no other in the country music industry. In 2005, Kelly was named a Top 20 Toyota Starmaker Finalist, and in late 2005, completed her first US tour including studio time with one of Nashville’s most prestigious producers, Bill Warner.

In January 2007, Kelly graduated from the Tamworth College of Country Music.
Kelly’s current single You’re Not My Ute has again hit the mark with radio gracing the Top 40 on the Top 100 Country Hits chart, and can be seen on CMC.

Her determination to succeed will ensure she can overcome anything life throws her way.

Once in a while an artist appears from out of nowhere and captures your imagination and heart with their passionate and heartfelt songs. Adam James is one of those artists. Playing guitar for over 10 years Adam has been developing his vocals under the watchful eye of renowned vocal coach, Venetta Fields – who is best known for her work with John Farnham. Adam has been creating a stir in country music over the past 18 months with performances at a number of major music events across the country and recently finished a Grand Finalist at the 2008 Toyota Star Maker Quest in Tamworth.

Jaxonville, an exciting fresh young talent in the country music industry, consists of Rebecca (violin, mandolin, guitar Vocals) and Rachael (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals). Two gifted individuals who take vocal harmony to new heights.

Also well accomplished songwriters, the girls were Top 4 finalists at the 2006 Annual Q Song Music Awards and finalist in The American Independent Music Awards. Jaxonville have since been nominated in the Annual Music Oz Awards and Best Duo for the 2008 Tiara Awards. This exciting duo is very lively with a unique ability to engage the audience with their performance. Candice Long

Candice Long is an exciting new artist to emerge from South East Queensland. With years of performance experience, winning Loungeroom Legends on the Today Show, and an EP released in 2007, Candice is making a real splash.

Since leaving high school, Candice has been singing full-time featuring in festivals, including the QUT Urban Country Music Festival, as well as winning songwriting competitions and amateur music awards.

Her real passion for music lies in songwriting and she is looking forward to recording a full length album later this year.

Sarah McMonagle

You know there is something extraordinary about Sarah McMonagle from the moment you encounter her - her intuitive and natural songs, the earthy timbre in her voice which seems to stir the soul, her warm, humble nature - it is certainly remarkable.

The release of her debut EP in 2007 offers a pure insight into Sarah’s musical style, which has been simply described as a fusion of Australiana country music and contemporary bluegrass music. With 2 successful radio singles, a Tamworth Independent Artist Recognition Award (TIARA), graduation from the CMAA College of Country Music in 2007 and twice a Toyota Star Maker Finalist in 2007 and 2008, Sarah has exceeded all expectations.

With so many stories still to be told by this talented songwriter we wait in eager anticipation for the release of her album in late 2008.

Jason Ryan released his debut album Long Summer's Day in 2006 featuring 12 original songs all written by Jason. With the release of successful radio singles My History and Live On An Island Jason is now gaining the attention of many in the Country Music Industry with a style of his own and was selected as one of the finalists at the Australian Independent Country Music Awards in 2007/2006 and the TIARA Awards in 2007.

Jason was also a Star Maker Finalist in 2007 and 2005, Gympie Muster Grand finalist in 2003, Winner of the 2004 Male Vocal Qld Champion of Champions and a graduate of the Australian CMAA College of Country Music for 2005.

A gifted singer/songwriter, Dane has just finished working on his debut album, Nothing to Lose. Dane recently performed at last years Songwriters’ Café at the Urban Country Music Festival in Caboolture as well as the Queensland Music Festival’s Lift Every Voice and will soon be doing a series of shows and tours with label-mate, Caroline Taylor-Knight

Dane’s debut album Nothing to Lose is now available to order in all good music stores across Australia and to download via iTunes. Dane’s first Video Clip, also produced by the Touchwood label, is due to air on CMC in the coming weeks. The sky is the limit for this exciting new talent.

Caroline Taylor-Knight

Caroline Taylor-Knight

Caroline Taylor-Knight’s introduction to the spotlight came at 10 years old when she performed solo in front of 1,000 people from her local community.

Since then Caroline has written and released an independent EP, supported artists including Vanessa Amorosi and James Morrison, launched Australia Post's Rock Australia Stamp series in Brisbane and performed at a major football game in Brisbane for a stadium crowd of 20,000 people.

Fuelled by this success Caroline put her heart and soul into recording her debut album Fall for Me, on which she wrote or co-wrote all but one of the eleven tracks. Caroline’s debut video clip Fall for Me has just wrapped and will be airing on CMC soon.

2008 is shaping up to be a big year for this talented artist.

Young Guns of Country

"The Young Guns of Country" promises to be one of the most exciting new shows on this year's festival program. The band will combine the talents of two sets of brothers, (Brew & Wason) with surprise guest appearances from some of the best young talent around. Liam Brew (Guitar & Vocals), Kris Wason (Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals), Cohan Brew (Bass), Keith Wason (Guitar & Vocals) individually, have between them won many awards and accolades, but for this show will perform together for 4 hours of the best in contemporary country music.

Kimberley Bowden

Kimberley Bowden

Kimberley Bowden is a singer/songwriter who is based in Brisbane. She was a Camerata graduate in 2004. In early 2006, she got the opportunity to perform as part of the Cyclone Larry benefit concerts in Innisfail and Cairns with a line-up of performers including Lee Kernaghan, Graeme Connors, Sara Storer, John Williamson and many more. Kimberley was runner-up at the Trans-Tasman Entertainer of the Year at Norfolk Island in 2006. In January 2008 she was Grand Finalist in the prestigious Toyota Star Maker competition in Tamworth. Kimberley performed original songs in the competition and throughout the festival and from this gained recognition as a songwriter.

What makes Rose Carleo so special is, ironically, the fact that she’s just like everyone else. Well, apart from the fact that she has a rare ability to take those experiences we’ve all lived through, and turn them into remarkable songs with a universal appeal.

Named the Silver Medallion winner at the 2007 Qld Gold Medallion Awards for Best New Talent and a finalist in the prestigious 2007 Toyota Starmaker - Rose has continued her journey upwards.

Mid 2007 saw Rose release her debut album Everything I Need, with producer Brendan Radford again at the helm. The beautiful duet Sometimes You Just Know scored a 2008 finalist nomination in the Golden Guitar Awards, and named the 2008 TIARA Awards for Vocal Collaboration of the Year for Rose & Drew.

Singer / songwriter Rod Dowsett, has written all 12 tracks on his 3rd album Rhymes and Reasons and put plenty of heart and soul into each track vocally. Rod manages to give each song a bit of an edge with his vocals and with good variation, he shows he is equally at home with the heart felt ballads as he is with toe–tappin' up tempo numbers.

There's a country rock quality about Rod but he doesn't go far from the traditional feel. Rod Dowsett has a fresh sound, most importantly it's his own and he isn't trying to be anybody else.

From his early beginnings in Vancouver, Canada, where he was entranced by the birth of rock'n'roll and rhythm'n'blues, writing and performing music has been as necessary to this storyteller as breathing in and out. Now celebrating his 50th year in the "business" and his second year in his adopted home, Australia, most audiences would agree that he has accomplished his goal.

Danny Mack is an extraordinarily entertaining and compelling live performer, a unique interpreter of songs. He is able to connect on many emotional levels with his audiences through his poignant earthy lyrics that are refreshingly free from abstract mysteries ... he tells it like it is. Danny Mack continues to keep it real and always has something to say that is well worth a listen.

Toni Pollard

Toni Pollard

Toni is a versatile songwriter, composing not only Alt.Country Songs but various other styles including Latin, R & B, Classical Edge and Euro.  She has performed at The Brisbane Jazz Festival, Wamfest, and Urban and is a graduate of The Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Toni released her Alt.Country album This Fire in 2007 and is getting good airplay here in Australia and Europe.

Entertaining with a style all to her own, Toni’s bluesy soulful voice, solid guitar rhythms and tasteful finger picking always delivers magic in her songs.

Kay Blakeley

Kay Blakeley has been teaching line dancing for 13 years in Victoria as well as competing and judging in both line dancing and choreography competitions. Kay conducts workshops annually in Melbourne, Bendigo, Rochester, Geelong Mildura and Yarrawonga as well as at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Recent choreography includes the dances 'Snap', 'Honky Tonk Side of Town' and 'Does Your Daddy Know'.

Carol McKee

Carol McKee has been a line dance instructor for 13 years now and a successful choreographer for ten. She has a wealth of experience in conducting workshops Australia-wide. Carol has judged and competed in Australia and New Zealand for both choreography and line dancing, winning many trophies for choreography, including People's Choice and Judges' Choice for the dance 'All I Wanna Do'.

Country Music Artist Leigh Kirley originally from the High Country in Victoria has finished his 2nd CD - Blood, Sweat and Gears which was released in Queensland at the Lights on the Hill Festival in Gatton.

Leigh's first album - Aussie Truckers - did extremely well in Australia selling 4000 copies in 2005.

Blood, sweat and Gears is a mixture of country, country rock and country blues and is already experiencing amazing success.

Madeline Alexander

12 year old Madeleine Alexander from a cattle property in Queensland, quickly became a favourite in Tamworth this year. Standing on the street and singing her heart out in a poignant voice that belies her age, Madeleine won many a heart during the festival. The Urban Country Music Festival welcomes Madeleine to our Town Square Main Stage on Saturday at 1.30pm.

Growing up in the Central Queensland town of Middlemount Rob taught himself to play the guitar and was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at the age of 17.

Rob's big break came earlier this year when he entered the Toyota Starmaker competition. "I didn't win but Compass Bros phoned two days later to talk about a deal. It was one of those phone calls that every unsigned artist dreams about."

Rob debut album Regular Guy will be released on Compass Bros records on 12 January. The first single Regular Guy has been a great success with the film clip going to air on CMC spending roughly three months in the top 30, as well as the National Radio Airplay top 20.

Tom Curtain's latest album Heatwave, has taken out the coveted Album of the Year award at the Tamworth Independent Artist Recognition Awards (TIARAS) at the 2008 Country Music Festival.

"The TIARA Awards are extremely important in recognising the contribution of independent artists to the larger country music industry, so receiving this award is a really big deal to me. It was also very unexpected." Tom's real-life yarns from the bush, combined with his warm and laconic sense of humour, make his shows one of the best seen at Tamworth.

"There is none of the 'Nashville' styled glam that seems to be influencing so many of our young artists, just a genuine Aussie singing stories of his life and experiences."

The rapid rise of Australian music sensation Jetty Road has been truly remarkable. Debuting in 2005, Jetty Road made an immediate impact within the music industry. Their highly anticipated second album Dirt Roads ~ City Lights has seen them extensively touring since its release in January 2007.

Chart success with 4 hit singles, a multitude of award nominations and TV appearances make Jetty Road one of Australia's standout acts. 2008 is set to be a huge year for the group, with finalist nominations for Golden Guitar, Tiara and the Australian Country Music People's Choice Awards.

Jetty Road is a mixture of music styles ranging from country to folk - they have a sound that people love, but say is hard to pigeon-hole, which suits Jetty Road just fine.

One of the most outstanding attractions of Joe Brown's Country and Western Stage Shows is Maori ballad singer Eddie Low, billed as the "voice in a million". His albums include Sings, Easy Temptations, Blue Smoke, Country Greats and Heart and Soul. He not only possesses vocal talents, but is master of an impressive variety of musical instruments, including piano, trumpet, flute, guitar and string bass, making him one of New Zealand's most versatile and popular entertainers to grace the International stage.

Noel Parlane

Noel Parlane

Noel has been on the New Zealand country music scene since the 1970's. He has received two awards at the Gore Golden Guitar Awards and recorded multiply albums including Can I Count on You. In 1985 Noel was recognised for his contribution to country music in Tamworth by the Hands of Fame organisers.

Reg and Ellie Thompson

Reg & Ellie Thompson are a popular country duo who now call Redcliffe their home. They have a regular following in the country music club scene and received several awards. They bring to their show a variety of popular country songs as well as their humour and comedy routine.
